Weddings, Nail Cutting, NoHo and More!

We just got back from a week-long roadtrip. We drove from Toronto down to Connecticut for Jenn's sister's wedding. We then drove to Western Massachusetts to visit friends.

First off, the drive down and back with two 4-month olds wasn't nearly as bad as one would expect! On the way down, the girls did very well and only melted down for the last 45 minutes! Jenn and I sat in the back seat a few times to entertain them :) For the most part, they slept, talked to their stuffed animals or played with their toys.

Jenn's sister's wedding was beautiful! It was a perfect October day in New England. The ceremony was held outside and the reception was held in a venue on a lake surrounded by fall-coloured trees. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful bride (and groom!). I don't have any pictures to post right now but definitely will soon!

Nail Cutting...If you've ever cut a baby's nails, you know how challenging it can be. If you've never cut a baby's nails but have seen a baby's hands, you know how tiny their fingers are! I had finally gotten comfortable cutting their nails. I've been doing it when they're feeding. They're distracted and less fidgety. It worked well, up until this past weekend when I practically maimed Quinn...ok that's a massive exaggeration, but that's how I felt! She cried for all of 15 seconds. I cried (inside) for about 3 hours while we put compression on her little thumb to try and get the bleeding to stop. 3 hours! I felt awful!! After a lengthy text exchange with Eva, she advised us to bandage her thumb up and leave it. See below. It's only been a few days but it's already healed.

On Monday, we drove to Western Mass to stay with our friends, Hannah and Kate. They live near Northampton. It's an adorable little town with several universities, great cafes, restaurants, parks and more...typical New England! Jenn spent a good amount of time in Northampton while she was living in Boston (it's a 1 1/2 hour drive) and loves it! We spent the first day grabbing breakfast and walking around with the girls. Yesterday, our friend Hannah took us to one of her favourite cafes, Essalon. I was in desperate need of a good Americano and I definitely got it! It was a rainy, cold day so we ended up hanging out for a while, chatting with a co-worker of Hannah's. We then walked around NoHo a bit more and did some shopping.
Hannah and Kate have an adorable black lab named Connor. He and Riley became good buddies a few years back. Connor is definitely spoiled, just like Riley and Finn :)

Last night, we hung out at their place and enjoyed a delicious meal cooked by Hannah. Quinny preferred to stay in so that she could catch up on her gossip.

  1. I clipped The Bean's thumb pretty bad one time. It took me close to a week to get over it. Every time I saw his poor little cut thumb I felt horrible all over again.

Glad to hear that the wedding and your trip went well. Hopefully we can get together soon!

  2. Glad Quinn was able to stay up to date on Hollywood :) Also glad that you all had such a a great trip. Wren and I have plans to one day move to Canada or New Englad -- we can't wait! We will soon be taking any and all advice on traveling with multiples. Great job mommies! And don't stress -- I'm sure Quinn won't need therapy for the nail incident :)

  3. Ah memories...I clipped Paityn's pinky once and her shrill cry and the blood traumatized me so badly that I started biting her nails off until her hands grew a little bigger. I feel your pain!
